I believe Randy did not fight in the rumble because he knew the fighting wouldn't solve anything. Randy was sick of all the fighting going on between the Socs and the Greasers. In addition, Randy was upset and sad that Bob had been killed.
I agree with Zohair that Randy doesn’t want to fight in the rumble because he knows it won’t solve anything. Also Randy was best friends with Bob and Bob was killed fighting with the Greasers. So Randy obviously doesn’t want to get killed but he doesn’t want others to get killed either. Randy realizes that there are other ways to solve this problem than fighting.
